Candles are some of the oldest inventions mankind has ever made in the field of illumination. They have abided through several difficult times and, in this present time and age, they have succeeded in carving out a niche far different from where they started from (i.e. illumination). Nowadays, candles are at the frontlines in the area of aromatherapy (scented candles, in particularly). Scented candles contain aromas and fragrances in the form of perfumes and scented oils (and extracts) obtained from plants. They are widely used in aromatherapy to reduce stress, which might explain why a lot of celebrities use them.
WHAT CANDLES DO CELEBRITIES USE?
Celebrities have been known to set the trends that other people follow for centuries, if not millennia. With the wild popularity of candles in recent decades, the fact that several celebrities have their own preferences isn’t so unusual. Some of these celebrities include the following:
- Victoria Beckham
Victoria Beckham is an English singer and songwriter, fashion and television personality, mother of 4 and wife to famous former British football star, David Beckham. And when it comes to her love of candles, this former Spice girl has been known to drop a comment or two over the years. According to her, Diptyque Green Figueir Scented Candles are one of her favorite things, and one of the things she cannot live without. In her interview with The Strategist, she said: “My flagship store on Dover Street is all about awakening the senses, and scent was a really important piece of the store experience. Over time, Diptyque’s Figuier Vert (or Diptyque Green Figueir) candle has become our signature fragrance – everyone who walks in always talks about the amazing smell of the store, and that’s just because of the candle. I love the warmth of fig wood so much that I often have one in my office, too.”
Diptyque Green Figueir Scented Candles are fig scented candles made in France by Diptyque. Upon purchase, they have a typical height of 10 cm and diameter of 9 cm, and a burning time of about 75 hours. These wonderful scented candles are enclosed in glass containers that are well suited for containing candle flame during burning. According to Diptyque, you should leave a candle to burn for 2 or 3 hours when using the candle for the first time, until all the wax has become liquid on the surface. Asides this, the wick of the candle should be cut regularly cut with a wick trimmer to an ideal length of 3 -5 mm before use; and following each use, the wick should be well centered to ensure the consistent consumption of wax.
- Meghan Markle
The Duchess of Sussex is another candle lover who absolutely loves Diptyque candles. A sneak peak into her L.A. home showcased her favorite Diptyque Tuberose candles, which contain Tuberose; a popular Southern Indian fragrant flower that gives off a fresh heady fruit scent with milk tones.
- Ryan Seacrest
In an interview with The Strategist, Ryan Seacrest said: “I fell in love with a new candle. It’s the Cire Trudon Cyrnos. I do love candles. I light them as soon as I get home in the evening, and I keep them lit throughout the course of the evening. But this brand and this scent just really relaxes. It’s nice, it’s not too strong, it’s elegant, and it’s a very old candle maker. It was founded in the 1600s, so they’ve been around for a while. In my New York apartment, they are in front of my sofa on the coffee tables. There’s two in the bedroom, there’s one in the bathroom. They’re placed strategically all over.”
- Amy Sedaris
Amy Sedaris is another Cire Trudon fan. In an interview, she told The Strategist: “But I also love Cire Trudon’s Ernesto candle. I’m really serious about lighting candles for people when they come over. And this one burns really nicely.”

- Selena Gomez
This famous actress, singer, producer and businesswoman’s words to Into the Gloss about her favorite candles are these: “Before I lived in my own house, I’d have a bunch of candles for my room in my parents’ house, and they would last forever. But now that I have this whole house, every room must have a scent! And I want them to be lit every night because it just feels so good – I’ll light them in the piano room, where we always have jam sessions, or even during the daytime when I’m doing my makeup. My favorite scents are Voluspa Mokara and Voluspa Saijo Persimmon; neither of them are too expensive. I was into Le Labo for a while but only in my room because they’re expensive. I’ll save that for my tour bus now.”
